Applications: Potassium iodide is a source of iodine and a nutritional and dietary supplement. It exists in crystalline or powder form with a solubility of 1 g in 0.7 ml of water at 25°C. It is contained in table salt to prevent goiter. Potassium iodide is mainly used to treat radiation poisoning caused by iodine-131-contaminated environments.
